I will cover er and ir verbs, and some pronunciation in this Second part.

So, Let’s jump straight in with some ER Spanish verb forms.

Aprender = to learn;

• Yo Aprendo.
• Tu Aprendes.
• El, ella, Usted Aprende.
• Nosotros Aprendemos.
• Vosotros Aprendeis.
• Ellos, ellas, Ustedes Aprenden.

Did you notice the similarity with ER and AR conjugations in the present?

All you have to do is swap the ‘a’ in your ending for an ‘e’! It’s that simple!

Everything else follows suit.

Spanish  ER verbs for you to practice;

1. To respond – Responder.
2. To read – Leer.
3. To run – Correr.
4. To sell – Vender.
5. To drink – Beber.
6. To eat – Comer.
7. To proceed – Proceder.
8. To break – Romper.

Escribir = to write;

• Yo escribo.

NOTES:

1. Try finding all of the similarities between the ER verb conjugation and the AR verb conjugation.
2. Doing this makes understanding the Spanish verb forms that much easier.
3. It also eliviates any fears or barriers you may have put up.

Everything will become clear, you’ll see.

Practice with these IR verbs now;

To permit – Permitir.
To live – Vivir.
To open – Abrir.
To assume – Asumir.
To complete/finish – Complir.
To admit – Admitir.
To receive – Recibir.
To cover/put the lid on – Cubrir.

Here as promised are a few pronunciation pointers;

Good pronunciation is foremost when you want to learn any language.

Let’s briefly go over vowel pronunciations;

A – pronounced as the a in Bad or Apple, a Spanish example is madre – mother.
E – pronounced as e in Bet or Fed, a Spanish example is Septiembre – September.
I – pronounced as the ee in Peep or Deep, a Spanish example is limpiador – cleaner.
O – pronounced as the o in Soften or Often, a Spanish example is roto – broken.
U – pronounced as the u in Boot or Hoover, a Spanish example is burro – donkey.

Remember when learning to speak Spanish, the vowel sounds remain reliably the same no matter what position they are in, or in which word.

You will learn to speak Spanish very quickly if you repeat the vowel sounds as often as you can, and memorize them.

It sounds peculiar at first, but as you will soon find out, it’s more than worth the effort, (and maybe a little embarrassment), especially when your Spanish starts to flow naturally and comfortably.

When starting to learn Spanish verb conjugating there are two types of verbs you need to come to terms with.

Spanish Verb Conjugator – The Basics

It’s probably no surprise to you that most irregular Spanish verbs are going to be the verbs that are used more frequently.

This is the usual way with the majority of languages. English being no exception to the rule,  for example, “was”, “been”, “is” and “am” are all variants of “to be”.

The verb, “to go” is another English verb with irregular forms.

You can choose the verbs that you want to learn with it as well as the tense or tenses you want to learn in. You can have them delivered in a certain order or randomly. You can choose how long to have the delay between each. This software has completely customizable lessons, and I found it perfect as a Spanish learning tool.
I must admit to struggling for years trying to come to terms with the Spanish language and it was all basically down to the difficulty I was having with mastering the verbs. Everything really fell into place with this verb conjugator, I didn’t just learn to speak Spanish I am now actually teaching Spanish!!
I would never have dreamt that would be the case, but here I am.

I want to let you know that you do not have to struggle like I did, if you want to learn Spanish online, and I do believe that this is the best way to do it, I am going to lead you through the basic steps. Online Spanish will obviously rely on Spanish software and I have been trying out a large number of the courses that are available. Some I found to be a complete waste of time and money, but others are quite good and others still are just amazing. First off I want to tell you not to be scared of Spanish;

The Spanish language is much different to what you are used to of course, but when you do start to wrap your head around it you will find it far more basic and logical than the English language.

Hopefully you have already started to study Spanish basics, to learn simple words and maybe even some Spanish sentences, but if not, I will be covering some of those basics here too. I will eventually lead you to the latest language learning software, an incredible Spanish verb conjugator.

Okay let us begin;

• Yo=I.

• tu= you, singular, informal, use this with friends, people you know well, and children.

• usted=you, singular, formal, used when addressing superiors or people that you do not know well.

• el=he.

• ella=she.

• nosotros=we.

• vosotros=you, plural, informal, used in Spain for groups of friends, or kids, and will be left out completely from Latin American Spanish courses.

• ustedes=you, plural, formal, used with groups.

• ellos=they, all male or mixed male and female group.

• ellas=they, all female group.

When we conjugate Spanish verbs to use with these pronouns, there are only six conjugations per verb that you need to memorize. The reason for this is several of the above pronouns share the same verb conjugation rule.

• yo shares with nosotros (male) and nosotras (female).

• tu shares with Vosotros (m)    and vosotras (f).

• usted.

• el.

• ella shares with ustedes.

• ellos.

• ellas.

You will find that a Spanish verb will always end in ar, er or ir. There is only one way to conjugate Spanish verbs in each Spanish verb tense, ie past, present or future. To begin with, I will demonstrate some verb conjugations in the present. I will start with Spanish verbs ending in ‘ar‘

Caminar means to walk.

1. Yo camino means I walk.

2. Tu caminas means you walk singular.

3. El, Ella, Usted camina means he, she, it walks.

4. Nosotros caminamos means we walk.

5. Vosotros caminais means you walk plural (in Spain only).

6. Ellos, ellas, Ustedes caminan means you walk plural.

These endings are standard for all ar verbs, just drop that ar, and add the appropriate ending o, as, a, amos, ais or an.

Here are a few more Spanish verbs with ar ending to practice with.

• hablar = to talk.

• estudiar = to study.

• preguntar = to ask.

• trabajar = to work.

• amar = to love.

• bailar = to dance.

• cantar = to sing.

• comprar = to buy.

• cocinar = to cook.

I think that is probably enough for your first session, remember to do plenty of Spanish practice.
